Racing Format and Start Times:

We have 2 racing formats at Paremata.

‘Clubhouse starts’ and ‘Committee boat starts’.  The 2 formats generally run on alternate Sundays over the sailing season.

In ‘Clubhouse starts’ the race starts right alongside the clubhouse and race up the channel to the main body of the inlet, around the course, and back up the channel to finish at the clubhouse.  These races start in the afternoon on a Sunday at 1.30 pm. One race is scheduled per race day. Depending on tide and weather it can take from 1 hour to 2 hours to complete the race.

In ‘Committee boat starts’ the race starts from a boat anchored in the main body of the inlet, races around the course and usually finished back at the committee boat (or they can finish at the clubhouse depending on the course chosen by the race officer).  These races start at 10.30 am on a Sunday and 3 races are scheduled per race day, 2 short sprint races and 1 longer race. It usually takes about 2-2.5 hours to complete all the races depending on conditions.

See the Racing documents below for more details of the race course.

Volunteer roster:

We need volunteers for the safety boats to be able to sail. We would also like volunteers for the kitchen, bar and a photographer.

Please indicate on the Roster 2019-20 when you expect to be able to help this season.

No experience is required to help out as crew in the safety boats. Thanks for all your help to run our club this season! We could not do it without you!
